Description
THIS IS A MACRO CLOSEUP OF THE CHINESE PRAYING MANTIS AND A SNAIL MEETING EACH OTHER FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY BACKYARD GARDEN. BOTH SEEM VERY CURIOUS OF EACH OTHER! AS TIME WENT ON THE MANTIS TRIED BITING THE SNAIL ON HIS SHELL BUT TO NO AVAIL. HIS PERSISTENCE PAID OFF AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES, HE THEN STARTED TO NIBBLE ON THE HEAD OF THE SNAIL! THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I EVER ENCOUNTERED A MEETING LIKE THIS! IT WAS VERY INTERESTING SO I GRABBED MY CAMERA AND PHOTOGRAPHED IT! I USED A 140 MACRO LENS TRYING TO GET AS CLOSE AS I POSSIBLY COULD! THIS MANTIS IS GREAT FOR THE ECO SYSTEM IN THAT IT PREYS ON AND KILLS OTHER INSECTS THAT MAYBE HARMFUL TO ONE'S FRUIT OR VEGETABLE GARDENS. A MUST FOR ANY FARMER TO HAVE GROWING ALL THE FRUITS AND VEGETABLES THEY HAVE!
